Wuxi Attractions

The conference will be held at Wuxi, a city with a splendid history of over 3,000 years. It is nestled on the northern shore of Lake Tai and about 128 kilometers (79.5 miles) northwest of Shanghai. It is one of the 15 economic central cities in China, and is blessed with charming natural beauty and known as one of the most famous tourist cities in China.

Lingshan Scenic Spot

Lingshan Scenic Spot is made up of two main sceneries, the Lingshan Buddha and the bathing ceremony. Located in Little Lingshan area south of Qinlv Peak of Mashan Hill, Lishan Buddha is the former site of famous Xiangfu Temple in Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty. When renovating the Xiangfu Temple, Wuxi also built a bronze Sakyamuni statue measuring eighty-eight meters in height. The Buddha statue is called Lishan Buddha for its location, the Little Lingshan Hill, named by the famous Monk Xuanzang. Building Lingshan Buddha is the biggest event in the history of Buddhism society in China in one hundred years. Meanwhile, it has been one of the symbols of Wuxi. 


Xishan Hill 

Xishan Hill is part of Huishan Hill, 74.3 meters above the sea level and stretching roughly 1.5 kilometers. According to archaeological finds, there had been large villages at the south foot of Xishan Hill since 4000 years ago. It was said that tin mine had been used up from the warrior states period to Han Dynasty. It is one of the origin of the name of the city, Wuxi, (means no tin in Chinese). 
Appreciating clouds on Xishan Hill is one of the eight Liangxi sceneries in early Ming Dynasty. During Hongwu and Yongle Periods, Longguang Pagoda was built at the top of Xishan Hill. This eight-storey pavilion style pagoda had become the highlight of Wuxi scenery since then and even is the symbol of Wuxi city nowadays. When climb on the pagoda, you can take a bird’s-eye view of the city, the Old Grand Canal and Tai Lake.


Tai Lake Fairy Land Island in Tai Lake 

Tai Lake Fairy Land Island in Tai Lake is on the three islands 2.6 kilometers south of Turtle-head Peninsular. It gets a nickname from its shape—Turtle Hill. On the island, there are thick trees, marvelous buildings, pools and caves. Scenic spots there are decorated archway, Huixian Bridge, Yuekai Cave, Sky Street, Tiandu Palace, Taiyi Temple of Heaven, Lixiao Palace, Dajue Bay and Xianfo Cave as well as monkey tricks. It is a featured scenic spot combining Chinese traditional and historical culture and beautiful nature view. Visitors can appreciate beautiful view and enjoy music as if they were in wonderland. 


Li Lake

Li Lake, also known as Wuli Lake, is a bay of Tai Lake in the northwest, covering an area of 9.5 square kilometers. It is named after the legend of Fanli and Xishi (one of the four famous beauties in ancient China). Li Garden, formerly Fanli’s residence occupies a corner of Li Lake covering an area of some 202 acres.


Tai Lake

Tai Lake is just like a bright pearl set in the Yangtze River delta. It crosses Jiangsu and Zhejiang provinces, where 48 islets of different sizes and 72 peaks and peninsulas along the lake combine to form a panorama of great natural beauty. The best place to view the beautiful Tai Lake is on the Turtle Head Islet. Turtle Head Islet is an islet stretching into the lake, whose shape is really like the head of a turtle protruding from the water. Tai Lake and the surrounding magnificence will bewitch your eyes when you climb onto Turtle Head. When the soft breezes blow, waves roll and the hills in the distance look like an overlapping landscape painting. The scene is really captivating. Turtle Head Islet Park is mainly made of the natural landscape, augmented by man-made additions. Flowers and trees can be seen everywhere. Various kinds of architecture are strategically placed among the trees and shrubs. All conspire to make the park graceful and elegant.


Turtle-Head Peninsula Scenic Spot 

The Turtle-Head Peninsula Scenic Spot is richly endowed by nature and thus an ideal place for natural enjoyment, vacation and leisure. The Turtle-Head Peninsula Resort at the Zhongdu Hill, surrounded by water with green trees and beautiful scenery, was listed one of the first sanatoriums as early as in the 1950’s by the State Council. After recent years’ renovation, updating and improvement, it is now a good place for vacation, health care and business travel with new and professional the physical examination center, sub-health consulting center and conference center.


Li Garden

Li Garden is the National AAAA-class tourist scenic area, an important heritage site under provincial protection and the main scenic spot of Tai Lake. Li Garden is in southwest Wuxi, on the shore of Li Lake (former Wuli Lake). The garden occupies 5.4 hectares, almost half of which is water area. It is one of the most famous gardens for lake scenery in China. 

It is said that in the fifth century B.C., Fan Li, a senior official of the State of Yue, retired after having helped his master King Gou Jian defeat the State of Wu. He went boating on Wuli Lake with Xi Shi, a famous beauty, and changed the name of the lake to Li lake after his own given name. Li Garden, with its pavilions, corridors, and causeways at the lake side, is exquisitely designed and harmonious in color. The most interesting sight is the 1,000-metre-long corridor that winds its way through the park. Along the way are inscriptions of ancient calligraphers. There is also a large white wall with numerous latticed openings from where you can view the park at different angles. 
When the plum blossoms in spring, the garden is often heavily crowded with local visitors.


Yangshan Peach Resort 

Yangshan Mountain was named “Anyang Mountain” in ancient time, for Anyang Duke got his title from the Emperor of Zhou Dynasty and was buried here, 12 km away from Wuxi, the famous tourist city in Southern Yangtze River, with Xinyi- Changxing Railway and Wuxi-Yixing Expressway crossing its area. There are 4 magnificent mountains and beautiful forests within its borders. Yangshan Mountain is renowned for its peach blossom with thousands of mus, ancient volcano with a history of millions of yeas, temples with a history of thousands of years, meriting its reputation of “the spectacular scenery in Southern Yangtze River” for its amazing beauty.
